Boise Twilight Criterium

July 24... Tough Race, Great Competition...

Idaho's biggest race took place on a beautiful evening that had some great racing and tons of action featuring 2000 Olympic medalist Marty Northstein and former Twilight winner and past Australian National Champion, Henk Vogels, as well as a host of other Pro riders, and top amateurs.  The iomega-Orbea plan layed out was to be up front and to look for opportunities to shine and go for midrace primes and finish strong.

Within iomega-Orbea was the National Team from Uruguay hosted by Team Manager Gary Casella, featuring Milton Wynants 2000 Olympic Silver medalist and his team mate Agustin Margaleff.  The Uruguayans were coming into top form with the Olympics in Athens less then a month away and looking to use Twilight to see where their fitness was.

The race was fast and furious right form the start and the iomega colors were seen towards the front at various times by Justin Mayfield, Gonzalo Tagliabue, Matt Weyan and Esteban Jukich.  The Uruguayan selection were in the mix of things as well as Weyen speeding away with Vogels and Wynants at one point for a bit.

iomega-Orbea was seen going after a few primes just coming so close a number of times but showed their fighting spirit in front of the home crowd, to many local fans delight.  Tagliabue, Weyen and Jukich were aggressive and rode a superb.

The race was ultra fast and ended in a group sprint won by Marty Northstein of Team Navigators and Wynants who was bumped on the last turn finished solidly in 6th and Tagliabue rounding out the top 20.

A great night at a great event in our home town, where the team showed itself to race tough.
